Commission Meeting September 9, 2025
Springfield, Ohio Biweekly City Commission Meeting recap. Includes a Presentation followed by citizen (not always) speakers “allowed” to address them for 3 minutes. Then comments from the Mayor, City Manager and Commission. Finally, I add my 2 cents / 3 minutes.

Brown not there.
**Focus
This meeting was a dud. Boy Scouts in attendance, so no adult conversations about reality. But Rue did take the time to say that the reason citizens aren't getting responses from them is because the comment cards collected aren't legible. So, we're stupid, dangerous, liars, racists, and now incapable of writing. It's our own fault.
**Presentations/Staff Report
Clark County Health Dept data. 6.2% kids are homeless. Food insecurity 23% of children. Both higher than the state or US. Tackett socializing all animated she’s Wendi Adelson vibes. Looking for feedback. Community meetings. Virtual. Scan the QR code to register. Or on the health dept website. There's an online survey too about the priorities. Ccchd.com
After feedback they come up with strategies for next 3 years.
**Rue Statement
The prayer/invocation and pledge. Please give us peace in our community, Lord. (This is always directed at the citizens - we're still dangerous.)
His usual warning to citizen speakers about disruptions. Some new stronger sentences.
**Citizen Speakers
Right before the speakers, Estrop introduced two guests -Boy Scouts. Pursuing their citizenship merit badge. So it was an entirely different and quick meeting.
Kenneth R. Seelig Jr. - Rue AGAIN introduced him as Ken Barron Seeling. He's asked 6 times about "the plan". No answers. Not in the website. Nnothing. I’d lie to hear from the commissioners about the illegal activity this weekend.
Diana Daniels - Field trips drivers can’t obeying traffic laws. Record their license. But there aren’t any. Your job is safety and security.
Didn't hear name - he's annoyed by the events signs that remain on poles for weeks/months after an event. Can they be removed? Read a proposal for an ordinance.
And that was all!!! Damm boy scouts! :)
**Rue's Immediate Comments
Logan Cobb is not ignoring the issue. She is meeting with people. We are not ignoring that cold weather is coming. And we;re're on top of the illegal activity.
Barron spoke up and Rue said, "This isn’t time for follow-ups, Barron."
You can always call us with concerns or questions.
**Heck's Reports and Answers
Heck said we will investigate to look into it. We can’t immediately shut someone down. No details no answers. Estrop went to federal funding. No decisions. Houston asked him to clarify that the city doesn't hire the drivers. Heck had Via speak about how to report.
Rue said, Look Diana, these are answers. We are in action." heck will research the sign rules but the poles aren’t ours they’re Ohio Edison.
Jason Via said you can report bad drivers on the City of Springfield website or field trips phone # or their site or email or his email. I need date time location not necessarily more details. They’ve taken action every time we’ve brought it up to them.
Rides 300 a day a month ago. Now 430. But it was parallel for 2-3 weeks with SCAT. So ridership is way down.
**Commission Comments
Tackett
Responding to the Health Dept presentation: She talked about all the meetings she’s been in about this.
Said the outdated signs annoy her as well. HER HER HER.
Houston
She's always, "Bryan, can you speak to..?", because he wouldn't respond otherwise.
Estrop
Responding to the Health Dept presentation: I hope you’re in touch with Jason Via about the new transportation service. We hope that will help. That was one of the motivations. A number are Smoking related. We tried to push legislation for young people but got shot down. The rep responded that it's also healthy eating and physical activity. Food deserts can’t get to stores.
Wanted to educate everybody (as usual) about their revenue: 80 percent for city is income taxes. 20% property taxes are for schools. City hasn’t raised the rate. Value of houses has increased and is handled by the County Auditor.
**Votes
I learned something! Second readings means they're voting on what was first readings in the prior meeting.
So tonight they voted yes on Culture Cafe rezoning. And another business.
Voted no on the barber shop because that's a residential neighborhood and always has been.
They don't like this spot-zoning.
Voted to renew Rumpke contract.
Voted yes on monies for:
Sheltered inc for “oublic services”- it was all salaries. Same with Nehemiah.
29k Springfield promise neighborhood too. 25k. The director spoke. 11k salary. 14k for operations. Supplies. They work with schools for after care and kid programs. Come to our garden. Budget of 400k. 40 pages of documentation for 25k.
City and Clark county for 95K paving. They reimburse each other. Middle Urbana and st Paris pike.
**My Thoughts
Tracey Tackett is a psychopath. Major Wendi Adelson vibes. Every comment she makes is about her and all she does. I'd bet anything she'll run for mayor, then senator. Sherrod Brown, her 'buddy", has groomed her.
Heck will never give any information on the illegal Haitian bar/venue being shut down. Never. He will work with Jacob Payen of the Haitian Community Alliance (formed in 2023, made a legal non profit in 2024) and career criminal, to have it relocated and he will make sure they get all the proper licensing before anything is leaked anywhere.
Rue saying look, we're in action! What a little girl. It's funny, though, because he makes it obvious that he is affected by the challengers.
What'd they do with all the SCAT busses?
