Gentlemen,
Please, please, please don’t make the citizens of Springfield go through another Fall 2024. Mayor Rob Rue has officially started stoking the fires.
We are so grateful for the national attention JD Vance and President Trump gave to Springfield in September 2024. It has ended horribly, but without your attention, I’m sure things would’ve been so much worse here.
Considering some of you are soon to be on the campaign trail, I hope you’ll do the most basic of right things for Springfield citizens, as your oath mandates.
As you all know, the citizens of Springfield and the country have foot the bill for all things immigrant and TPS for years. And yet, here in Springfield we have been vilified. The reality that was spoken of – the dogs and cats and ducks – was indeed real. But when a culture walks around the Walmart and Home Depot with machetes, people are not inclined to take photos. They have been entitled to all our money and resources and lined the Walmart Bank of America parking lot on weekends to send their Cash App money home to their families and friends in Haiti. Again, who’s going to take photos? I have my own horror stories of encounters with them in public. This isn’t racist; it’s people stealing from us and threatening and attacking us while they do it. While our own leaders tell you it’s not even happening, so we are liars.
The Mayor and Assistant Mayor and City Manager have said over and over in the last 3 months of City Commission meetings that the town is broke. I don’t know how this can be, since we’ve been told how racist and dangerous we citizens are, and how much the Haitians have enriched the town’s culture, diversity, and economy. The Finance Director, Katie Eviston, did a presentation in the June 17th City Commission meeting (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c9kAIpDtoo&list=PLgMuFaWBmSmjFgIDHxsgm-XVNqgWfz52w) during which she said that the city has no rainy day fund and actually doesn’t have the funds that are required by state law. Rue and Estrop and Heck readily admit that they have no more American Rescue or Cares Act funds. But Rue, adding insult to injury professes that NO CITY TAX REVENUE has been spent on the Haitian influx. (He’s forever being misquoted. It’s a real problem for him and makes him ever so mad.)
The Springfield News-Sun is still reporting Fall 2024 as a big hoax, which it was not. Our reality was and still is real, but it’s not hard to follow the money from media to government.
We aren’t allowed to interact with City Commissioners, the Mayor, the City Manager other than the 3 minutes they allot to us in a biweekly (twice monthly) meeting. There are no comments allowed on any social media accounts. Again, because the citizens are racist and dangerous.
There shouldn’t be money in the Haitians/TPSers after August, so I don’t know why Rue is so insistent on already painting the picture for the nation that they need to be protected from the dangerous racists paying all the bills. But, he’s in constant communication and coordination with DeWine, so I assume it’s for future state and federal welfare. And to coordinate the imaginary b*mb threats so Rue can invoke his imaginary emergency powers, the legality of which is nowhere to be found. He is a part-time figurehead.
This was the tactic they used last year to keep Trump from visiting on his campaign trail after the debate. The only person allowed to hold a town hall meeting was Vivek Ramaswamy, I assume because there was rumor that he might be running for Governor, if not selected to be in the Trump admin. Rue already chomping at the bit for state funds. But nothing productive came of that. And Rue and DeWine had it surrounded with state and city police presence, for more of the narrative to the nation that we’re racist and dangerous.
He and DeWine ordered Safety Director Andy Wilson to make sure “resources” were spent on the Haitians last year, about which Wilson, DeWine, and Rue are extremely proud: “We got them a new hospital! And driving lessons!”-(We could tell you the facts about both of those things, though.): March 11, 2025 City Commission meeting, 1:06:42 – 1:19:23 (This portion ends with Rue falsely claiming again that he was misquoted saying that city funds were used on immigrants.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq-mfmNo4Rk&list=PLgMuFaWBmSmiBVilq-fwF3TaIpnhgulot
I know some of you voted for the “emergency” federal funds to address resources in Springfield, but I hope you also know that the money was spent SOLELY on resources for Haitians. Nothing citizens would require had they not be brought here for greed and nefarious purposes.
And Wilson has been invited to speak (not just the 3 minutes, of course) at the last two meetings with the message that he and the entire state’s Public Safety resources are dedicated to “move in”, “pre-emptively”, “leverage”, “bring the full weight” to Springfield this summer/fall. July 1, 2025 City Commission meeting, 1:27:00 to 1:32:00: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TS9zBno5KoM&t=7s
The message is already clear again. The city leaders and the Haitians need to be protected.
The national attention has begun. DC Shorts with 1.5 million subscribers on July 3, 2025 posted: : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLcDFzID41s&t=3s
I would bet my annual salary that within days we’ll have police presence at the Commission meetings, a bomb threat or two, emergency powers, tax increases to make up for all the net deficit caused by every federal, state, county, and city leader and the people you all allowed to profit from this.
(Anyone with any education knows that companies here hired only Haitians because they got $9600 in WOTC money for EACH one hired EVERY year. The greed of all sectors. The narrative, of course, is that not only are we racist and dangerous, but we’re lazy. I don’t know how to connect laziness to all the need for police protection, because that requires energy. We’re all pretty busy working to pay for all these things our elected and appointed officials require us to pay for. Not much energy left for protests – there never were, even though last year, they professed we were out there wreaking havoc on the town.)
PLEASE help us. Don’t make us go through another August, September, October with this nonsense. We are good, decent, hard-working people who desperately need and deserve a break from the emotional and mental abuse from Rue, Heck, the Commission, DeWine, Wilson, and all the ones they command to be on the nasty side of this, some of you included.
Just some of the vitriol coming out of Rue’s mouth we still listen to constantly (he has a deep hatred for Trump).
“Hopefully, the polar vortex of September doesn't repeat itself. But we will address them head-on.”
“I can’t interfere with federal policy, but I can do everything in my power to ensure their safety.”
“The President needs to keep our city out of his mouth.”
“I’m not against your first amendment rights to speak. I have to let you, even if it’s threatening us, but I will have you ejected for disrupting the meeting.”
“We will continue to have public comment at these meetings, only as long as there is civil and constructive dialog.”
“I’m sick and tired of being called a liar by you people.”
“I’m sick of you all citing all this data, like you’re trying to say we don’t keep track of things or don’t care about this city.”
In the July 1st Commission meeting, when a citizen asked about a new public transit system that nobody voted for, she said, “As a mayor, I hope you do appreciate the comments.” And Rue laughed and said, "Our conversation is done."
That’s just a small portion. Every meeting includes, without fail, a few of the following: shut up, stop talking, we’ve allowed you to speak, your time is up, this is not a dialogue, we’ll have you removed, you’ll be trespassing if you speak false information (pot meet kettle), Allison (police chief) get them out of here, you are out of order (this was said to a man who lost his son in a shooting two weeks prior)
He's just disgusting. And angry. And frankly, very, very scary. He threatened us again and again since September 2024 and he’s becoming increasingly threatening of late. Of course, he has to, to set up and sustain his narrative.
So again. PLEASE help us. Keep us in your conversations, make us priorities (This hasn’t happened since 2014, when the town was designated a “welcoming” city, skirting the “sanctuary” word.) Help us figure out how to get out of this City Manager – Commission government mafia system that they’ve created. Three new Commissioners are running (unopposed, because Heck chose the candidates) in November elections, but they’re just more mouthpieces. Rue’s term isn’t up until December 2027, and he’s too connected not to be submitted and protected again. He wasn’t even elected to Mayor – he was appointed once and “ran” unopposed once. Springfield is akin to 1920s Brooklyn, and it’s 2025 for goodness’ sake.
It can’t be any wonder why so few vote at all anymore here. We don’t even have a voice on something as simple as a code enforcement.
Thank you for your time and consideration and all you try to do. I hope you’ll do the right thing for us here in Springfield.
